Peer Review and Evaluation Process
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Modern Research in English Language Studies undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality, ethical integrity, and methodological rigor.
-
Initial Technical Check:
After submission through the journal’s online system, each manuscript is reviewed by the editorial team within one week to ensure compliance with the journal’s basic criteria (formatting, references, and subject relevance). Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements will be returned to the author without peer review. -
First Editorial Screening (Chief Editor):
If the manuscript passes the initial check, it is evaluated by the Chief Editor. The manuscript may be rejected at this stage if deemed unsuitable or outside the scope of the journal. -
Peer Review by Referees:
Accepted manuscripts are sent to at least two qualified reviewers for double-blind peer review. If the two reviewers provide conflicting recommendations, the manuscript will be sent to a third reviewer for final evaluation. -
Editorial Decision and Author Revision:
Based on the reviewers' comments, the Chief Editor makes an initial editorial decision. If revisions are required, the manuscript is returned to the corresponding author for modification. The authors must address all reviewer comments and resubmit the revised version. -
Second Review and Final Decision:
The revised manuscript will be re-evaluated by the original reviewers and/or the Chief Editor. At this stage, the manuscript may be accepted for publication or rejected based on the quality of revisions and the overall merit of the research. -
Post-Acceptance Process:
Upon final acceptance, authors must submit the final version of their manuscript in editable file formats (e.g., Word for text, Excel for tables). A galley proof (PDF) will be sent to the corresponding author, which must be reviewed and returned with corrections within 2 working days.
Throughout the process, all correspondence is conducted exclusively with the corresponding author, and updates are provided through the journal system and email.
